Felixstowe occurs as North Sea seaport in Suffolk, England. There was a village there since prior to the Norman conquest, but it sole became the major port inside 1886. Additionally to transport, touristry increased, & the pier was constructed in 1905.Indeed, during the late Victorian time (fallowing circthe 1880) it became a fashionable resort, a trend initiated per opening of Felixstowe railway station, the pier, (view above) & the visit per so German royal line. It remained and then until a late 1930s. Per late 1990's a town council got neglected a pier & so badly & for adieu it was deemed to become insecure and some public access. Felixstowe is twinned sustaining a German towns Wesel and Salzwedel. These are administered by Suffolk Coastal District Council along with the Town Council. There is a nature reserve and bird observatory at Landguard Fort and a [http://www.felixstowegolf.co.uk/ Golf Club]which is amongst the oldest within the UK with been established in 1881. A Rt. Hon. Arthur Balfour Captainside of the Golf Club inside 1889, became Captain of the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_and_Ancient_Golf_Club R&A] in 1894 & British Prime Minister from either 1902-1908. In todays world Felixstowe is one of Britain's top trine container ports (along with Southampton and Tilbury), dealing using 35% of container freight — & Europe's for occupy. It has adept touring links to a Midlands via the A14 and to London via the A12 road.
